Two-Family Cabin Renovation

The Two-Family Cabin has a part in Koinonia's history. Located in the Delaware Uplands near Highland Lake, New York, Koinonia is one and one half times the size of Central Park, and celebrated its 60th anniversary this year. A Day of Thanksgiving took place on June 4, 1966 where hundreds of people attended and enjoyed good weather in this new campground, and 1966 was the year the Two-Family Cabin was built. It was one of the first facilities open to provide a place to stay, built with an option to open the door between the two families. Its beautiful setting became a favorite place to stay, close to the Chapel in the Pines and the lake, but after 58 years of usage, it was time for a major facelift.

Susan and Tom Vorstadt were asked to see what could be done. They discovered that the trusses went from front to back and they submitted a plan which was approved. Donations were contributed by the Vorstadt
estate and Christ Lutheran Church of Woodcliff Lake, and a new microwave was donated by Paul Johnson. The work began in March 2024 and finished in May.
